Broadway and Shaftesbury Casino gamble on Tommy Langford

Birmingham’s leading independent casino Broadway Casino and their sister company in West Bromwich Shaftesbury Casino have joined local boxing hero Tommy Langford’s team in his bid to win titles at super-middleweight.

Broadway and Shaftesbury Casino have generously financed the former British, Commonwealth and WBO Inter-Continental middleweight champion’s costly training camps for the next year in preparation for his eagerly-anticipated return in the weight class up from his former campaigns, where he won three major titles.

Langford’s knockdowns in back-to-back defeats to local rival Jason Welborn was the catalyst for the decision to move up to 168lbs after 23 fights at 160lbs, where he reigned as British champion between November 2016 to May 2018 and reached no.2 in the WBO World rankings.

The huge West Brom FC fan is a season ticket holder at The Hawthorns and heads to Shaftesbury Casino after every home game to spend time with fans in the recently refurbished bar.

Post-fight after-parties are now exclusively held at Broadway Casino – a plush gaming complex, situated in the city centre of Birmingham, which is run by Managing Director Denis Dowling and General Manager Charles Griffin, who boast over 60 years of experience between them.

Established in 2005, Broadway Casino not only boasts a first-class gaming floor and a renowned card room but comprises a number of facilities that are truly second to none, including the sophisticated Italian restaurant and the hugely popular Ralph’s bar, which will be hosting the after-party on March 9 following Langford’s super-middleweight debut at the Walsall Town Hall.

Charles Griffin commented on the new partnership, “Broadway Casino is delighted to support Tommy, he’s always a winner with us – great boxer, great person, always gives 100 percent.”

Broadway and Shaftesbury Casino’s logos will be proudly emblazoned across Tommy Langford’s fight kit when he appears in the squared circle.

He said, “I aim to represent Broadway and Shaftesbury Casino in the ring and give the performances I have become known for, since winning Contest of the Year 2018.

“I have ambitions to become a two-weight British and Commonwealth champion, but first I have to give a good performance in my next fight to start building back up towards those title shots.”

Tommy’s Agent, Tim Rickson, further commented on the deal he brokered, “Broadway Casino have been a close supporter of Team Langford for a number of years already, sponsoring his last fight in Birmingham in September 2018, which was aired live on Sky Sports.

“We now welcome Shaftesbury Casino as well and this new long-term deal during Tommy’s comeback, will provide a vital boost for Tommy in this crucial stage of his career.”

Tommy Langford’s next fight on March 9 at Walsall Town Hall will be his super-middleweight debut on a Black Country Boxing Promotions event.
